                                  What is OpenType?

OpenType, also called Type 2 fonts, is another font format developed by Microsoft and Adobe. It is also an outline font, more powerful than TrueType, and one of the most obvious benefits is that you can embed PostScript fonts into TrueType's software. And also supports multiple platforms, supports a large character set, and copyright protection. The OpenType standard also defines the suffixes for OpenType file names. OpenType files containing TrueType fonts have the suffix .ttf, and those containing PostScript fonts have the suffix .OTF. If the file is a font package containing a series of TrueType fonts, then the suffix is .TTC.

                                  What is TrueType?

TrueType is a computer outline font (curved stroke font) type standard developed by Apple Inc. and Microsoft Corp. in the United States. The extension of this type of font file is .ttf and the type code is tfil.

Back in the late 1980s, Apple designed and developed TrueType to counter Adobe's Type 1PostScript fonts. after that Microsoft joined the development, the font formats of Windows operating systems were basically unified into TrueType, while in Apple's Mac OS it became a situation where PostScript and TrueType was later used by Linux and other systems and became the standard font. the main strength of TrueType is that it can provide developers with advanced control about font display, pixel-level display of different font sizes, etc.
